Our internationally renowned eco-lodge is located on a certified organic farm in the tropical montane rainforests of the Western Ghats in Kodagu (Coorg) district, Karnataka. Surrounded by rolling hills and densely forested valleys, this region is one of the major biodiversity hotspots of the world.

The Rainforest Retreat was one of the first eco-lodges of its kind in this region. Since the beginning, it has attracted a vibrant mix of visitors from different backgrounds – scientists, artists, farmers, students, writers, filmmakers, volunteers, urban and rural, young and old – all connected by a deep love and respect for nature.

Over the past 32 years, we have grown into a platform to share ideas, build community, and raise awareness about ecological farming practices and the urgent need to protect our fragile habitats. This is also an interdisciplinary space which brings together practitioners from across the arts and sciences.
