Garcinia cambogia (Kokam) are beautiful trees growing abundantly in the plantation and the fruits are harvested for their culinary and medicinal value. The fruits have hydroxycitric acid (HCA) as an active ingredient which interferes with an enzyme associated with fat metabolism and seems to reduce the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol.
